Jagcats is one of those companies you often see advertised in Jaguar Enthusiast, Classic Cars and other magazines. You often hear about from other members when looking for a cheap supply of used parts for a car. The business is based on Bell Lane in Ackworth, West Yorkshire but is not that easy to find.

If you are planning to visit Jagcats and not sure of the location, log onto www.streetmap.co.uk and search for Bell Lane, Ackworth. Jagcats forms part of a business that also includes the Boot and Shoe public house, situated on Wakefield Road, Ackworth. Jagcats, as the name implies, only deals in Jaguar cars. Due to the number of Jaguars Les owns, he has exhausted the Bell Lane site so also hires space in a barn at a nearby farm that accommodates over 200 Jaguars. Les mainly concentrates on the later models, XJ series, 1,2 and 3, XJ40 and XJS and has built up a complete wealth of parts.

Jagcats not only break Jaguars for spares but they also repair them, offering tyres, exhausts, an MOT service and general servicing. It is very clear that Les can supply a vast array of parts—many of them rare for the modern Jaguar.

Jagcats found fame on Yorkshire Television due to international trading. Two Russian Jaguar owners came all the way to Yorkshire to collect the spares they needed.

The Boot and Shoe in Ackworth can trace its history back to the 15th century when it was an important coaching inn and stopping off point for travellers heading to and from Scarborough, Sheffield, Lincolnshire, Wakefield and Doncaster. The mounting stone still stands near the entrance. Landlord Les Thompson has been at the helm for almost five years. Though the pub has retained its old world character, there have been extensive modernisation and refurbishment to a high standard.

Since this photo was taken in September 2001, the stage has undergone extensive improvements and a sound to light system now surrounds the stage.
